Door Holder- Brady’s Easter Letter
By Russell Scott Steven Andersen
God gave me a big boy job today
He let me hold open Heaven’s pretty door
It’s so heavy and high up; I can barely see the top
I know I can keep it open though
‘Cause I have muscles and I’m really strong
Remember, how I do that pose that you taught me dad
I growl loudly and raise my arms
My fists shake a lot as I squeeze them
You laugh and call me “SUPERMAN”!
Mommy, everyone is so nice to me here, it’s really fun
They treat me special, I’m luckier than other kids,
I get to play with any pet I want
Ponies and tigers, even chimpanzees
(They’re my favorite; they play like me)
Today I even rode an elephant
It wasn’t like taking a tractor ride though
I knew it wouldn’t be ‘cause Ol’ Papa always says,
“Nothing runs like a Deere!”
Grammie, I told my OTHER Gammie, it’s like when you drive me around in the cart
When you take us on the weekend to shop at Wal-Mart
I have to sit in a basket and really hold on
I laugh and giggle as we bounce around, it’s a lot of fun
He doesn’t fit in my room though, the elephant that is
His butt is way too big
When Papa comes he will have to make the door a little higher!
I’ll help him like I always do.
He can use my plastic hammer! The one that he gave me . . .
I think I left it in my toy box . . .
Tell him not to forget it!
Oh yeah, tell Papa to wash up first, Heaven is clean
Sometimes when he works too hard he smells funny . . .
Okay, I’m tired so I’m going to go sleep now
See over there that’s my bed, the little fluffy one
Tell my brothers in the summer to lie in the grass and look at the sky
At the small cloud floating around all by itself,
“THAT’S ME!”
I’ll be looking down and waving back at everyone, but I’ll be very hard to see
The sun is very bright up this high . . .
But I’m here! I’m always near!
Look close, real close . . . Can you see me? I’m smiling!
Okay, bedtime.
I “LOVES” YOU!
A big , Big, BIG, bear hug,
<grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr>
Brady
